Why is PaddleQuest free?
PaddleQuest has always been a volunteer driven event and expenses in 2024 have been reduced thanks to Bahamas on the River. If you would like to support the efforts of PQ, there will be a Venmo for donations and Merch for sale as well. Also, free PQ tastes better!
Whats up with camping?
Camping is no longer organized by PaddleQuest/Cap’n Matt. Camping is offered by Bahamas on the River and if first come first serve. Be advised that you will be camping next door to train tracks and a busy bar scene. Live music will be hosted by Bahamas and food is available. We camped here from 2004-2009 and it was a blast.
Do we have to wear costumes?
Costumes are totally optional. Lots of teams get into their team theme and there may be some prizes for best costume, but otherwise - not required!
How does the game work?
Your score is out of 1,000 available points. Points are scored by collecting tokens, magic items (4), artifacts, and treasure trash. Trash must be authentic river-trash and be dropped off to the Cosmic Hoarder. There is also a Day 2 bonus for teams that participate and an alliance score if your alliance wins the overall games.
How do we find magic items and artifacts?
You must ask characters if they have magic items. The Helm and the Cape may only be acquired if you already have artifacts from other characters - they will tell you what they need. You may also seek the prophets to gain knowledge. Maps to artifacts may be gained from characters, just ask “do you have a map”?
When and Where does the event start?
10 AM is the official start, from the docks of Bahamas on the River and the first 7 teams to Kajun’s COllege will receive a magic Heart Stone. You may start at any time however. No pressure! Checkpoint games stop at 5pm. Scoring at Bahmas starts at 4:30 - 6:30. Teams must be back to Bahamas by 6:30.
When is sign in? What do you need to do?
Teams may sign in Friday evening from 6-8 or Saturday morning 8am - 9:15am. Teams must sign release forms, provide team info, and take a photo. You will receive a wristband. Maps may be picked up Saturday morning at the bar.
